Copyright and Publishing Rights

The Pakistan Journal of Artificial Intelligence (PJAI) adheres to internationally accepted standards of publication ethics and copyright law to ensure ethical, transparent, and equitable dissemination of research in the field of artificial intelligence. Authors maintain specific rights while granting the journal the necessary permissions for publication.

1. Copyright Ownership

Upon manuscript acceptance, authors grant PJAI a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the work in both digital and print formats.

Authors retain full copyright and the right to:

  • Share their work via institutional repositories, personal websites, or preprint servers (with proper citation).

  • Include the article in future works such as books, theses, or dissertations.

  • Distribute the article for educational or research purposes, provided there is no commercial use.

2. Licensing & Open Access Policy

PJAI operates under an Open Access model, and all articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

This means:

  • Articles can be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, and reused in any format or medium.

  • Users must provide proper attribution to the original authors and the journal.

  • Both non-commercial and commercial use is permitted under ethical guidelines.

3. Author Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original and does not violate any third-party copyrights.

  • All previously published figures, images, or content are used with appropriate permissions and citations.

  • They have secured all necessary rights for any third-party material included in the submission.

4. Publisher Rights

PJAI reserves the right to:

  • Format, edit, and standardize manuscripts according to its publication guidelines.

  • Disseminate and archive articles in indexing databases and repositories.

  • Uphold ethical publication standards, including issuing retractions or corrections when warranted.

5. Third-Party Content & Permissions

It is the author’s responsibility to:

  • Obtain written permission for the use of any third-party content, including images, figures, datasets, or lengthy excerpts.

  • Clearly acknowledge all external sources and provide appropriate credit in the manuscript.

6. Withdrawal & Retraction Policy

In cases involving ethical violations, plagiarism, or significant data errors, PJAI reserves the right to retract or remove the article, in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

Authors requesting withdrawal after acceptance must comply with PJAI’s Withdrawal Policy, and may be subject to a fee if significant editorial work has been completed.
