Archiving Policy

The Pakistan Journal of Artificial Intelligence (PJAI) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of all its published research content. To safeguard the continuity and discoverability of scientific work in the field of artificial intelligence, PJAI adopts robust digital archiving solutions and storage practices in line with international standards.

1. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)

PJAI implements the LOCKSS system to facilitate decentralized and secure storage of its content. Through a global network of libraries, this system ensures that PJAI articles remain permanently accessible, even in the event of accidental data loss or journal inactivity.

2. CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)

As an added measure, PJAI participates in the CLOCKSS initiative. This open-access preservation service ensures that the journal’s content is archived securely and can be made publicly available in perpetuity, especially during unexpected disruptions or discontinuation of services.

3. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

PJAI uses the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a trusted archiving network embedded within Open Journal Systems (OJS). This automated, no-cost solution supports open-access principles while ensuring that the journal’s AI research content is archived in a distributed, redundant, and secure manner.

4. CrossRef DOI Registration

All articles published in PJAI are assigned unique Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) via CrossRef. This facilitates persistent linking, reliable citation, and long-term discoverability of articles, ensuring accessibility even if the journal's domain or platform changes.

5. Cloud-Based Backup (Google Drive)

To further safeguard its content, PJAI maintains periodic backups of all published articles and associated metadata on secure cloud storage platforms such as Google Drive. This provides an additional layer of protection against server failures, cyber incidents, or human errors.

6. Self-Archiving Policy

PJAI encourages authors to share and disseminate their research while preserving the integrity of the publication process. Authors may archive their work as follows:

  • Preprints: May be shared on non-commercial preprint servers or repositories with proper acknowledgment.

  • Accepted Manuscripts: May be posted on institutional repositories or personal websites with full citation to the final published version.

  • Published Versions (PDFs): May be retained for personal use but not redistributed publicly without explicit permission from the journal.

By leveraging these advanced archiving systems, Pakistan Journal of Artificial Intelligence ensures that all published research remains permanently accessible to global readers, scholars, and future innovators in artificial intelligence.
